Who is Perfectly Practical?
I am certain that I was not the only child that got excited by being able to go door to door collecting candy on Halloween. Once I got home, however, the excitement of dumping all those candies out and sorting them into categories just made my little heart happy.
“Art is messy, art is chaos, so you need a system” -Andrew Stanton
My mother was an amazing artist which meant that my two sisters and I grew up enjoying more than our fair share of arts and crafts, with lots of my favorite memories include markers, paints and of course glitter. This began a lifelong love of art and design, and after graduating from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design and illustration, I packed my art bin and went straight to work at a design firm.
After several years of formatting newsletters and brochures, I switched careers and began the hardest job I will ever have…being a stay at home parent. Since babies and husbands nap, kids head off to school, and I am happiest when I have lots of plates spinning, I continued to do freelance design and illustration.
As someone who thrives on new, fun, creative ventures, I know I can tend to be scatter-brained. I realized quickly that having organized systems in place was essential to my success in any endeavor. My love of organizing kicked in and that candy-sorting kid surfaced.
Functionally, having spaces organized means being able to find things quickly, saving time, money and frustration. Taking the extra step to make things beautiful works as an incentive to keep things organized and this can be a game changer. Does this mean that every junk drawer needs to be Instagram worthy? Of course not, but walking into a beautifully organized walk-in closet can start your day off right and opening a colorful, orderly refrigerator can help keep you eating healthy.
At Perfectly Practical, our goal with each and every client is to help take those areas that stress you out or embarrass you and work together to bring in a sense of calm, order and beauty.
We would love to opportunity to work with you.
